From: "MPCgram" To: Subject: MPCGram 878 (resent for those who missed it--no changes for those who did) Date: Monday, March 24, 2003 6:59 AM =========================================== MPC GRAM =========================================== Covering the entire World of Military Numismatics Series 004 - Number 878 Friday March 21, 2003 See You in Charlotte By Howard A Daniel III Please remind everyone who lives close to Charlotte, NC, and/or will be attending the show to visit me at the NI/NBS/IBNS club table 1312. I am located right to the left of the main entrance to the bourse. I have a bunch of Philippines material on display (not for sale) to publicize the Philippine Collectors Forum (PCF) at the ANA Convention in Baltimore on August 1. If anyone has MPC or other military "stuff" from the Philippines, please bring it to the PCF for show and tell, and to update the major catalogs if it is not cataloged. I will be moderating an Numismatics International (NI) (world coins, tokens, etc.) meeting at 11AM on Saturday here in Charlotte in room 216B, then one for the International Bank Note Society (IBNS) (paper financial instruments of all kinds) at noon in the same room. Please bring a nice piece to these meetings for show and tell. That is all for now. I want to see Gramsters here in Charlotte! =========================================== Editorial =========================================== The first ever (official) Bank Note Reporter MPC issue is on the street. We have not seen a copy here at headquarters (always the last to get the word), but we have received some feedback that it is being well received. Of course we look forward to its arrival (as we do every month to the arrival of the BNR). Heck, I am looking forward to the arrival of the second special MPC issue in 2004! We will no doubt comment when it does arrive, but we would love to have your comments too! Finally, if you do not subscribe to the Bank Note Repoter. Now is the time! We have not financial connections with the paper (other than customers of each other), but we whole heartedly recommend it to all Gramsters. Go to www.Krause.com. Fred =========================================== MAIL CALL =========================================== Dear Editor Regarding the Advanced Class of the Summer Seminar, I propose - without coordinating this with any of the other advanced students of course - that they outbrief the results of their research during the Thursday afternoon session. Also, to tie into Warner's idea of having a talk at the Colorado Springs Coin Show, if a few advanced students were still around on Saturday, they would give the same talk there. Cheers, Sparky Dear Sparky, Yes, you are correct about the beefing of other students based upon individual research. That is an essential. The coin show idea might get involved with the previously mentioned minifest. Lots more thought needs to be given to these ideas. Editor =========================================== CALENDAR OF EVENTS =========================================== March 21, deadline for application for ANA Summer Seminar military money scholarship, see: http://www.papermoneyworld.net/news/Military%20Numismatists%20Scholarship%20Fund%202003.pdf ANA National Money Show, March 21-23, 2003, Charlotte (NC) Convention Center, Contact ANA Convention Department at convention@money.org or JoeBoling@aol.com for forms to exhibit.
