The $20 notes have two varieties. Those with one position number and those with two position numbers. Serial number F00000130F has been reported with two position numbers along with F00000153F. Could this be a second printing? Please report in on your $20's, it will be interesting to see if number 100 has one position number and 101 has two numbers. This could be a new way to collect MFC, looking for a "changeover pair" (this is to get David excited). For those of you who might not know, Russ Walsh designed series 031 which is the current MFC used at Fest events. Information regarding series 031 has been leaked which states the dollar denominated issues were printed under Fest HQ control, however, the fractionals were printed by the designer and delivered to Fest HQ just prior to Fest IV. This answers a couple of questions, why there wasn't any bar-coding and micro printing on the fractionals, and why we haven't discovered any errors on the fractionals. Keep up the serial number reports as this has helped in finding most of the varieties so far. Also, just received my 691 $1 VOID note, Thank you Mr. 691. I believe there are two varieties of the VOID notes as well. Mine had a Red Cross stamp on the back. I wonder if anyone has a USO stamp on the back. =========================================== Editorial/opinion =========================================== On top of all of the other problems swirling around me right now, my computer died on Friday. The worker operating the back hoe struck the power line while the computer was writing critical files. After many hours of effort I got it (the computer) limping along, but I could not keep it going well enough to work on the Gram much less all of the other projects piled up here. In addition to knocking out my computer, his misdeed delayed the installation of the poison gas module for my new home security system. We have lots of good information both news and letters backed up so we should be able to get some Grams out regularly for the next few days (poison gas installation permitting). =========================================== MAIL CALL =========================================== Dear Editor, No gram for days!!!! Military life begins from the time you check in and are issued your dog tags / individual pay record and subsequent Military Fest Certificates (paper money issued with errors and stars). You are also given duty assignments and other interesting work which adds to the great flavor of the Fest. The auction (fund raising for ANA seminar scholarships or to get rid of duplicates), bourse, programs, educational experiences, exhibits, give a-ways (including a reference on all issued Military Fest Certificates compliments of Al Glaser), other souvenirs including a souvenir card, military tokens, awards / honors, other games, hotel accommodations, meals, location, atmosphere and camaraderie with other Festers make this a must attend event - even if you aren’t interested in military money. They will even pick you up and take you back to the airport you come into as did David Seelye. Thank you David, and everyone else who picked up and took Festers back to the airports. The organizers are be commended for a great job in the planning of this event. We were honored to be part of the fabulous weekend called MPC Fest IV. In all cases confirm your order via email first. “American Red Cross Bankers’ Club, Daily Sightseeing Tours, March 30 – April 5 (1947)” It is a long sheet of paper with mimeographed information about each day’s tour to sites/locations not far from Tokyo. The April 1 date is a “Silk Mill Tour” and there are another two long sheets of mimeographed paper with a colored in Red Cross describing it. And I have the Katakura & Company Limited 32-pages booklet handed out to each person on the tour of the silk mill. The booklet is interesting in that it is dated 1937 and done on high grade paper with a tied cover, and not postwar. The reason I bought this group is because of the “Bankers’ Club” on the ARC pages. But it might also be connected to chits and/or coupons at that club and this material could be added to a collection and possibly used in an exhibit. The junk store I bought it appears to have pamphlets for all of the other tour dates, if someone is interested in them. I want $5.50 postpaid for the three above items.
